曾诚以独奏家、室内乐演奏家和乐团首席的多重身份活跃于当今乐坛。
1999年,曾诚在小提琴大师艾萨克·斯特恩访华期间参加了其大师班,演奏受到斯特恩赞赏,他与大师的艺术交流被拍摄进了奥斯卡获奖纪录片《从毛泽东到莫扎特》的续集之中。

2007年11月在北京国际音乐节十周年庆典中与世界著名小提琴大师奈杰尔·肯尼迪合作演奏了巴赫《双小提琴协奏曲》,成为整个庆典中的最大亮点,受到了各界的广泛关注,媒体评价他与肯尼迪的组合“第一次让中国观众领略到理性与疯狂的完美结合”。
2012年2月,中国爱乐乐团出访欧洲,他作为独奏小提琴家,在世界著名的捷克布拉格鲁道夫·德沃夏克音乐厅与指挥家余隆及中国爱乐乐团合作演奏了皮亚佐拉的小提琴协奏曲《四季》,得到了捷克媒体的高度赞誉。
2014年7月作为乐队首席参加了英国BBC逍遥音乐节演出,在英国皇家阿尔伯特音乐厅的演出受到了英国各界的极大好评,获得了轰动性的效应。
2015年8月,曾诚在中国爱乐乐团“丝绸之路”巡演中担任小提琴独奏,在伊朗德黑兰团结宫剧场、雅典卫城希罗德·阿提库斯剧场等剧场上演的六国七场音乐会上与乐团成功合作演出了小提琴协奏曲《梁祝》。
2016年12月,乐团美洲巡演期间,再次成功上演了小提琴协奏曲《梁祝》,并接受洛杉矶“星岛日报”专访。在刚刚结束的2018-2019中国爱乐乐团音乐季的闭幕音乐会上,曾诚受邀与美国著名小提琴家吉尔·沙汉姆共同演绎的勒克莱尔双小提琴奏鸣曲,精彩绝伦的演绎在这个夏日的夜晚听上去是如此的沁人心脾。
在室内乐演奏方面,曾诚也有着丰富的经验和不俗的建树,展现出作为一位全面发展的小提琴家所具备的精湛艺术素养。他所在的室内乐重奏组每年都在中国爱乐乐团的音乐季中进行多种形式的室内乐专场演出。
2012年,曾诚担任第一小提琴的“中国爱乐乐团首席四重奏” 应文化部邀请陪同国务院副总理刘延东出访欧盟总部赴比利时布鲁塞尔,在“中欧高级别人文交流对话机制”启动仪式庆典音乐会上与维也纳爱乐乐团弦乐四重奏合作专场音乐会演出“门德尔松八重奏”等一系列作品,他也由此成为极少数能在欧洲主流舞台上演奏室内乐的中国音乐家之一。
作为著名指挥大师迪图瓦口中被誉为“不可多得的优秀乐团首席小提琴家”,他成功的合作过几乎所有世界顶级的古典乐坛的指挥家与独奏家,演出足迹遍布世界各大顶级音乐舞台包括,伦敦皇家阿尔伯特音乐厅、柏林爱乐大厅、维也纳金色音乐厅、阿姆斯特丹皇家音乐厅、东京三得利音乐厅等......
目前他还是上海交响乐团、广州交响乐团、杭州爱乐乐团、青岛交响乐团、陕西交响乐团,西安交响乐团,河北交响乐团客座首席。2015年受邀西澳大利亚交响乐团客座首席。
曾诚的演奏音色细腻甜美,对音乐的风格把握十分准确,极具感染力而广受赞誉。作为一位兼乐团首席、室内乐演奏家、独奏家于一身的小提琴家,他多面发展的艺术特点超凡出众,是新一代乐团首席中的领军人物和小提琴家中的佼佼者。
Zeng Cheng, violin
Zeng Cheng is a renowned Chinese violinist and China’s 1-tier performer. He currently serves as the concertmaster of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a D'Addario artist and also a Bärenreiter artist.
A versatile artist, Zeng actively appears on stage as soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster.
In 1999, during Isaac Stern’s visit to China, Zeng Cheng attended his master class and was praised by Mr. Stern himself. He can be seen in the sequel of From Mao to Mozart.
In November 2007, Zeng Cheng performed Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D major in the 10th Beijing Music Festival together with Nigel Kennedy. The performance was acclaimed by media “the perfect combination of rationality and passion”.
In February 2012, during the China Philharmonic Orchestra’s Europe tour, Zeng Cheng played Astor Piazzolla’s Estaciones Porteñas at Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague and received highly commendation by native media.
July 2014 saw Zeng Cheng’s performance as the concertmaster of the China Philharmonic Orchestra during its debut on BBC Proms. This Royal Albert Hall concert was widely praised by British media.
In the “Silk Road Tour” of China Philharmonic Orchestra in August 2015, Zeng Cheng played The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto as the soloist in all 7 concerts. He is heard in legendary venues including Tehran’s Roudaki Hall and Odeon of Herodes Atticus in the Acropolis of Athens.
Zeng continues to play the Butterfly Lovers concerto during the China Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2016 “Tour of the Americas” and received interview by Sing Tao Daily in Los Angeles. In the recent 2018-2019 season finale of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Zeng was invited to perform Leclair’s sonata for 2 violins with distinguished American violinist Gil Shaham in a refreshing summer night.
As a comprehensive musician, Zeng Cheng also has great achievement in the field of chamber music. His string quartet is listed in the Chamber Music Series of every music season of the China Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2012, the China Philharmonic Orchestra Principals Quartet was invited by the Ministry of Culture of China to perform in the opening ceremony of EU-China High-Level Exchanges and Dialogue Mechanisms which held in Brussels together with the string quartet from Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra as a joint string octet. Thus he became one of only a handful of Chinese musicians who have performed chamber music on a prestigious European stage.
Praised by Maestro Charles Dutoit as “an amazing concertmaster as a rare gem”, he has successfully worked with many of the leading conductors and soloists in the world, appearing in many prestigious concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Musikverein, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Tokyo Suntory Hall, just to name a few.
He is also guest concertmaster of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, Shaanxi Symphony Orchestra, Xi’an Symphony Orchestra and Hebei Symphony Orchestra. He was invited by West Australian Symphony Orchestra to serve as their guest concertmaster in 2015.
Zeng’s delicate and sweet sound, precise understanding of music genre and touching performances are widely praised. As a versatile violinist of so many roles as concertmaster, chamber musician and soloist, he is outstanding in the new generation of concertmasters as well as a leading figure in nowadays violinists.
